Captain Drives off in style...

There was no sign of first tee nerves with 150 people watching, when Captain Ciaran Burns struck his drive-in ball 229 yards straight down the middle.

The winner of the Guess the Drive competition was Geraldine Nuijens, wife of the newly elected Vice-Captain, Rolf.

The Captain's charity this year will be South East London Minds ‘Mindsup', which helps support people suffering with mental illness.

Club Member, Don Harrington, will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 13th October to help raise money for this charity which he jointly set-up following the devasting loss of his daughter who was suffering from depression.

If you would like to sponsor Don, and thereby support the Captains Charity please see: Don Harrington is fundraising for South East London Mind (justgiving.com)

The Captain is also running a Charity ‘Pot of Gold' 100 Club, with monthly draws for lucky cash winners. Entry is £100; please see Aga in Reception to enter and pick your lucky number.

A message from the Captain…

Dear Members,

Thank you all for your good wishes and support for my term as Captain of this great club.  It is days like yesterday that demonstrate what a club should be like; camaraderie, bonhomie, and all round good friendliness!

Barbara and I had a wonderful time and from looking around the club yesterday it seemed that everyone else there thoroughly enjoyed themselves too.

Thank you all again and I look forward to serving you all as your Captain during the next 12 months.

Very many thanks

Ciarán Burns
